FPBA and my First Body Painting experience.

I was lucky enough to be able to drive out to St. Louis and spend 4 days taking face painting and balloon courses, and meeting tons of new people in my industry.

I had tons of first this week:

First time driving by myself for 6 hours.

First time going to a convention without my local entertainer friends.

First time getting professional makeup and getting a professional headshot.

First time having professional photos of my work done.

First Torso and Body Paint.

First time making Headpieces.

Just so so many new things to add to my business and my art life.

The main reason I wanted to write this blog, was to be able to express some of the fears I had about body painting compared to the reality of body paint, and to celebrate receiving two body paint awards on my first group paint.

Some people see Body Painting as something sexual since we are working on nude models. Coming from a modest mindset I was worried this would be an awkward experience and also that my conservative community may not receive the art form well.

I found my experience couldn't have been further from my fears. It was such a wonderful learning experience, and at no point in time did I feel awkward. I had a spectacular model who was way more experienced and had modeled previously a couple times. I hope that I am fortunate enough to do more of these soon in the near future. I am adding a couple pics with My team and I and our wonderful model. I appreciate that my friends, family and my community was extremely supportive and love my body paintings!
